Can I mix tylenol PM with Prednisone? I am taking 30 mg of prednisone for a thrown out back and it is my next to last day. The prednisone was prescribed by my doctor. Anyway I took my bed time tablet and 2 tylenol PM's to relieve the pain. Will I be alright?

ontopofoldsmokie replied: "Yes, you can take both. Tylenol will not interfere with steriods and the pm portion is just some diphenhydramine. It might make you very sleepy. So, don't drink alcohol and be careful about driving."

Prednisone is quite tough on the digestive system though, so you should look to take it with some crackers or something so it doesn't mess with your stomach too much but the tylenol is safe to take while taking prednisone Take care."

BrattyArmyBiatch replied: "Yes you can take them together. But first I need to warn you of the major side effects of Prednisone. I was 19 when I was first put on it. I now am 32 and on SSI disability from the Prednisone causing bone loss, spinal stenosis and avascular nercrosis. This is a very serious drug with very serious side effects. I would advise EVERYONE and ANYONE whom takes it not to! Sadly I was an R.N. and knew alot about the drug and asked several doctors I worked for about the side effects yet no one knew nor told me if they did know about these effects. Be careful!"

Prednisone and Tylenol Mix? I am currently taking 20 mg of Prednisone twice a day for 2 days and then once a day for 2 days after that. I am also about to have my period and cramps are a huge problem for me, i need to know if i can take Tylenol with Prednisone?? and if i cant what can i do to get rid of the cramps? I am taking 20 mg. of prednisone 2 times a day for my shoulder. Can I also take tylenol pm at bedtime.? I am taking prednisone 2 times a day for 2 weeks for a sore shoulder but it keeps me awake at night. Is it ok to take tylenol pm? He said no ibuprofen but is tylenol ok?

Tylenol 4 and Prednisone? earlier today I had a late allergic reaction to Penicillin, So i went to emergency and he prescribed me prendisone..but right now i'm just covered in red itchyness and want to sleep so its 1:30 about and if I take a tylenol 4 nowcould I start my new medication of Prednisone ( 6 tablets at once) in about 7 hours ? jaja1111 replied: "The Tylenol 4 is a pain med and prednisone is a steroid. Two completely different birds. I wouldn't hesitate to take them both. If you're still worried about it, call any pharmacy and ask the pharmacist if you can take these together. They know all that stuff."

How long will aches last after a twelve week Prednisone taper? I was on IV Prednisone. I started at 60 mg and a week ago tried to stop my approved taper but my jaw became stiff and mouth barely opened. Took three more days of Prednisone. Now my shoulders and head ache like crazy. Anyone know how long this will last? I ache. I am taking only Tylenol as I have surgery scheduled in 11 days and can not take aspirin products.

M J replied: "hi ,12 weeks is fairly long for steroids ,you must taper off as directed and go the full term. once you have fully stopped ,your body has to re-adjust and function normally again . it,s abit like detoxing so could take around 2 to 3 weeks so dont be worried. but if you become concerned just have a chat with your doctor ok ,hope this put,s your mind at ease."

I am taking Prednisone 20 mg for 5 days and i can't sleep, is it ok to take tylenol PM with it? The drugs in the Tylenol PM are Acetaminophen, and Diphenhydramine HCl

Rocky W replied: "Prednisone has steriods. This is probably what is keeping you awake. Talk to your doctor and see if you can take it earlier, like in the a.m. and maybe that will help. Do not mix any meds unless you talk with your doctor or pharmacist. It's not worth the risk of dying because you mixed meds."

Does Tylenol or aspirin have any side effects if taken while under current medication of prednisone.? What I mean is...is it safe to take aspirin?

I take prednisone , 15 mg and have been on it for 6 months..? now i have left hip pain and can barely walk unless i take extra strength tylenol. I heard of a condition called aspetic necrosis..(bone death ) caused from the prednisone..this scares me ..anyone else here ever take prednisone and run into hip problems and if so what happened and how was it fixed? thank you. p.s i am 32 years old.

I was on heavy doses of prednisone ( 70 mg/day ) for four years and never had hip or joint problems, it about drove me crazy mentally though. My doctor was finally able to wean me off of it when my condition changed ( sarcoicosis ). Talk to your doctor asap, Good Luck."

It helps with the pain a lot, but after taking it for a period of time, you body may build an immunity to it. Try taking aleve for a few weeks, then switch back to prednisone. Aleves active ingredient is Naproxen. It's an anti inflamatory that works well with any kind of joint or bone pain. after that, switch back. You won't want to increase your dose of prednisone without your doctors consent. If I were you though, ask your doctor if there is anything else that you can take instead of prednisone. As I said before, it works great for pain, but there are a lot of side affects that can be associated with it such as moonface, necrosis, and even diabetes. P.S. Its not going to be easy to ween you off that stuff though. You cant suddenly quit taking it. If you do, you may experience flare ups with your pain. Ask your doctor for information on how to get off it."

What can I take when nothing else has worked? I went to the doc today and got prednisone to clear up and infection in my ear and jaw. my doc told me to take extra strength Advil or Tylenol. nothing has helped and I am in major pain. what should i do? i cant go to the hospital because i dont have the money. the only reason i went to the doc is because my school provides them for us. What can I do? My ear and jaw are hurting so badly I am about to cry. Any ideas?

Jane replied: "Take a hot/warm shower, it may relax you enough get some pain relief. Call the doctor tomorrow and see if he can call in a pain med prescription to the pharmacy (walmart is only $4). explain that the tylenol isn't working."
